Settlers of Catan is an old but very popular game with lots of add-on expansions. Despite it's age it has held it's value extremely well being one of the more expensive board game on the market.

How the game is played

The game is for 3-4 players and focused on acquiring cities and negotiating resources to be the first to 10 victory points. Victory points can be gained by creating cities, having the most soldiers, and the longest road. Soldiers and roads are purchased with resource cards.

Resource cards can be gained by traded but are mostly gained by the dice rolling your number. Each player claims their initial squares which are then numbered later. Like craps, 6 and 8 are popular due to the frequency they are rolled. If your number is rolled, you gain resources for that square.

The game typically takes an hour and is fun to play with family or friends.
