The awards are out. Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk alongside Vivianne Miedema, from Arsenal have won the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year awards for 2018/2019.
Van Dijk got more votes from his fellow players than Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero, Sadio Mane and Eden Hazard.
Dijk is the first defender to win the award since 2015 after John Terry took it. He succeeded his team mate Mo Sallah who took the award last year.
The Manchester citys Sterling, won the men’s young player prize which is very good considering his outstanding form this season.
Manchester City and liverpool has been outstanding this season such that with just two matches left to go, the league winner is still undecided
