Although I beg to differ a bit. Maybe some people take the criticism too far, nonetheless, it's not out of place to criticize professional athletes when they are not performing.

This is the similitude of a professional banker, actor etc. There's a standard expected when you're a professional at your job and when you do not meet these standards, these criticisms will come. As a champion, criticism is your food and that's what makes you grow.
