Howdy Folks!

It's been over two weeks since I gave a look at my Splinterland card collection value. For the purpose of these evaluations we use the metrics as they are displayed on PeakMonsters. Which currently are List Value and Market Value. Before we continue lets define both. List Value is the USD value of cards based on the asking price of listed cards for sale. Market Value is the last sold price of a card. Since anyone can ask any price - for tracking our total collection value in these posts we largely ignore the total Market Value of our collection. That is not to say knowing the Market Value is pointless, it isn't. If one wanted to sell or purchase a card knowing both Asking and Last Sold prices is beneficial to determine fair market value.

Our last post titled SPL Card values continue to rise [2026-10-01] recorded that the rentmoney@rentmoney collection risen a staggering 20% in USD value over the period of a couple months. What's interesting about this increase is my rentmoney@rentmoney account is mainly OG cards. What makes that interesting? Well, if an account that is holding mainly OG cards is seeing a 20% increase in USD value it shows that the Splinterlands ecosystem still values them cards. It shows that the gamers and investors are still actively seeking out and purchasing the OG sets. Today I take a look at my collections value again. What do I see this time? Another increase in value perhaps? Not exactly. A drop in USD value? Not that either. What I see today is my card collection has stayed steady at a USD worth that is near equal to our post from over two weeks ago.

Does this surprise me? To be honest it slightly does. Was I expecting further increases? Not exactly, however in the long term I do expect these cards to be worth allot more than they currently are. Was I expecting a dip in USD value for my overall collection? Yes, I certainly was. It's not unusual to see pull back when the price of cryptocurrency or gaming assets rise. I have come to expect it as the natural pattern of such things. However it seems as the value of OG Splinterland cards increased by 20% (at least) and has stayed there with next to no pull back. Of course my sample size is just one account but still - its an interesting observation. What do I expect next? A steady increase? A dip? Steady pricing? The answer is all the above and none of the above. I dare not predict such things. I simply observe and report my findings.

As I look at the different variant of card packs and their current USD value a few things stick out to me. One of which is the CHAOS Legion set being the most affordable out of all the core sets. The second thing that sticks out to me and possibly the first thing to those new to Splinterlands is the $0.04 Foundation Packs. For clarification and to those new to Splinterlands or the rentmoney@rentmoney blog; Foundation packs can be attained for free and were not released as a core set. They were released for the Campaign and for Frontier Mode. Only cards found in Campaign mode or Foundation packs can be played in Frontier Rank Play. Thus their unique trade value compared to other sets. The third thing that sticks out to me is the value of ORBS. This one has always been a head scratchier. ORBS are essentially the Alpha cards of the mini sets. They are worth a respectable $4.47 USD each which is below the value of BETA and well below the value of ALPHA packs. If I were to use the VALUE of ALPHA packs as a guideline as to what I would expect BETA and/or ORBS to be priced at I would have to say that both are currently underpriced. ORBS especially being undervalued. But that is just one man's opinion. I always felt that way about ORB Packs. They seem to have slipped through the cracks when it comes to attention from the grander Splinterlands player base.

I have a handful of ORBS in my account. Some bag fulls of CHAOS. I even have a little UNTAMED - some of which I unintentionally opened when not paying attention; thinking I was opening CHAOS. What I don't have is any ALPHA Packs. There was 0 chance the version of me that purchased ALPHA packs would be able to hold onto them. Opening packs was and still is just too much fun. The same is true for when BETA Packs were released - although I did somehow manage to hold onto a small amount of those. What is your pack plans? Are you hoarding any? If so what set do you have your eyes set on. There is no financle advice in this post. Always do your own research before investing any of your hard earned currencies. Never invest what you can't afford to lose. That's it for now. We here at the rentmoney@rentmoney blog thank you for your visit and we hope to see you at our next post.
