Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!
2 He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honors him the most.
4 Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.
5 You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow!
6 Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.
There is a popular story of a little girl who insisted that she could recite Psalms 23, when she was asked to do so, she said "The Lord is my shepherd", that's all I need. In a way, her version summarizes this Psalms.
Once we have the Lord, we have all we need because God truly is all we need to have our need met, faith is the requirement that gets God to work, understanding is what makes our faith comes alive.
But mind you, having the Lord as a good shepherd does not take away difficult times. We may have to pass through the ballsy of shadow of death which in the true sense is not death itself but shadow of worldly problems; and one thing is settled, the Lord will not leave us alone, He will be with us and take us out of shadow of death because He is our shepherd.
