Sleeping in late...do you do it on the weekend?

My short answer is it's complicated! Read on and find out!

I used to dislike sleeping when I was younger. Given that we only had a fixed amount of hours in a day, sleeping felt like a bad use or a "waste" of time because it meant we would have lesser time to do the things we enjoy in our daily lives. Also, growing up in an Asian family, my parents took studies and schooling very seriously, so we were either kept busy by doing schoolwork, attending enrichment classes, or even taking swimming lessons.

Fast forward to my teenager years, I don't think sleep was in my vocabulary! Needless to say, sleeping in late on weekends was also non-existent. Most of the weekends were spent hanging out late with friends, or maybe partying out late.

It was until I started working my mid-20s then I realised sleeping was such a great thing because work was just so tiring! Moreover, I was an introvert and didn't have a big social circle. So most of my weekends were really spent sleeping in. Indeed it was a 360 degrees turn in mindset since my younger days - I was totally fine idling my weekends sleeping in late, or even taking afternoon naps.

Fast forward to my 30s, the major change is that I have learnt to manage my work stress better, and at the same time, I have more commitments in life. Weekends are busier in a different way, running errands, getting groceries from the supermarket, squeezing in some exercise, and catching up with friends over a cup of coffee, and of course, writing and reading on Hive as well!

So do I still sleep in late? Hmm, the answer is rarely. But it's not that I don't wish to, it's just my body clock. Unlike the weekdays, I don't set any alarms on weekends, i.e. I just let my body wake up naturally. And it seems like there's this "body clock" within me that will just wake up around my weekday timings, and I just get up and get on with my plans for the day. That said, there were a few occasions where I guess my body was really tired, and I woke up very late in the morning. And that's fine - because I probably needed the rest.

So that's my personal sharing which wasn't a straightforward answer at all! Hope you enjoyed reading and let me know if you have any comments! Have a pleasant week ahead!
