The official Wikipedia Android app is designed to help you find, discover, and explore knowledge on Wikipedia. Settle a bet with a friend by doing a quick search through the app, or dive into featured articles, images, recommended articles, and more using the Explore feed. With more than 39 million articles in nearly 300 languages, your favorite free online encyclopedia is now at your fingertips.
As I was using this android open-source application named “ Wikipedia ”, I had noticed that developments on the said application is still needed. As for this suggestion, I had provided an example situation wherein the component/section of the application which needs improvements has been stated. Thus, making the importance of this suggestion clear and much easier to digest.
I love Wikipedia, I use it more than any other app. However, lately I have found a few mistakes. Most of the wordings and/or grammars are wrong and when I wanted to fix it, the editing option is locked and so I can't just fix it! Well... it defeats the entire purpose of the website! I understand people screw things up on purpose I'm sure, but tits kinda disturbing me that I can't fix things that are wrong because " I don't have Permission." Also, it is not good for the needs of a Wikipedia Editors.
So from the given situation above, I wanted to suggest the following:
This suggested option is very useful in when editing text files using a textual or graphical user interface which displays the content (texts) in an easy to look at and good view; that is, it displays a portion of the opened file and updates it in real time. Thus, with this option, any user of the application will be able to adjust the visual interface or presentation according to his/her visual preference. In other words, the user will be able to zoom in and zoom out the view of the article he/she is reading.
This suggested feature will help in the continuous development of the application. Since a user will be able to give comments/suggestions for a specific article, he/she will be able to notify himself/herself as well the developers that there is something wrong within the article. Also, it will serve as a note for future references while reading the articles to avoid misinterpretation of the contents of the articles being read.
With this suggested feature, a user of the application will be able to edit the mistakes he/she saw within the context while he/she is reading it. Say for example the user was able to determine that there was a portion of the article in which the grammar/wordings are incorrect, he/she will be able to take an action by correcting it through editing.
In order to make this suggestion possible, the Wikipedia developers should make some enhancement on their application from which this suggestion will be included and so as to be implemented. To make this suggestion easier to interpret, the author of this contribution post provided the current format as well as his suggested format.
