hurricane milton is now a 180 mph category 5 storm and tied as the 3rd strongest atlantic hurricane in history.
the national hurricane center has increased the storm surge forecast to 10-15 feet for tampa bay. this could flood tens of thousands of homes and cause over $10 billion in damage. not a single weather model predicted the storm would strengthen this quickly.
