Safety is one of the most important aspects that we all need to follow strictly with our funds and in the crypto space its even more necessary to ensure safety. Since the crypto ecosystem works entirely online that gives a better option to hackers/scammers to figure out the ways to scam people. Its always our responsibility to safeguard our digital holding and for that second layer, authentication is a must-have in place. Even if we use our personal computer for access then also we need to use 2FA because this adds another layer of security. We have seen many incidents when exchanges are hacked which we assume follows the highest level of security but still it happens.
Yesterday I saw the news that Bitmax exchnage got hacked and lost some money and its really concerning situation. Its difficult to say when we are going to have hack-proof systems where such incidents will never happen but the answer to this question is not easy and even difficult to answer.
Most of us use metamask wallet to use with various defi platforms and even to hold our crypto because of this wallet software that we can use without any exchnage. This is also called a decentralized wallet and the safest ever that we can also use with ethereum and Binance smart chain network as well.
MetaMask is a software cryptocurrency wallet used to interact with the Ethereum blockchain. It allows users to access their Ethereum wallet through a browser extension or mobile app, which can then be used to interact with decentralized applications.
Although its a decentralized wallet but it does not mean funds can't get hacked through this wallet. There have been incidents reported by the users where their metamask got hacked and they lost their coins. A saying that is very popular in crypto that- "Not your key Not your coins" which simply means if your keys are shared with anyone then that person have access to your coins as well.
Here its very important to keep the kets secure and never ever share with anyone. Sometimes keeping these keys in the online domain can also be risky so the best practice is to store them offline so that no one except us can get easy access. While using a meta mask there are a few steps that we need to follow to ensure more safety.
These are some of the steps that we need to follow for additional safety. No one likes to lose coins so we should make it a regular practice to follow these steps. There to alternate to safety and presentation is surely better than care. I am very much particular about it and strictly follow these steps. Maybe there is something that I don't know so please help to add any step or trick that I need to learn for making my wallet even more secure.
