Happy Caturday Steemians! I hope everyone had a happy Christmas and looking forward to a fabulous 2020.
Christmas is a time when most Christian families joyfully gather to celebrate, have a great dinner and exchange gifts and goodwill. On the other hand, there are many of us who have suffered great losses of family members this time of year. With all the attention on family at Christmas it seems the time to miss them the most.
One year even my beloved dog went missing Christmas Eve. I let Pepper out to do his business and when I didn’t hear his bark in a few minutes, signalling he was ready to come inside, I knew something must have happened.
Pepper was a tiny dog, part Chihuahua. He didn’t like the cold and snow and never stayed outside very long. I searched the streets and ditches the next day thinking he might have wandered to the road and was hit by a car. An elderly neighbor saw me and helped in the search. No sign of his little body.
This all happened In the late 80’s when I lived near a city shopping mall outside Toronto. I think someone snatched him up thinking he was a young dog and would make a nice christmas present. I had spoiled the little dog and hope he was cared for and loved.
To make it more upsetting, a rumour had been circulating of missing pets that people were capturing and selling them for experiments.
I wasn’t going to bother with putting up a Christmas tree this year as Hubby and I were going to my sister’s home in another province for a few days during Christmas. We were not having any company but I wanted to feel the spirit of Christmas in the house - what better way than put up a tree with lights.
The Charlie Brown artificial tree came out of the box!
Sunday Cat was sleeping on the settee while I decorated.
Later Sunday admires the tree.
Sunday is satisfied I made an effort and settles down with his toys.
