Today is Thanksgiving in Canada and most establishments are closed.

Hubs and I took a drive to Wood Islands and looked out over Northumberland Strait to see the Ferry ready to disappear over the horizon on it’s way to Nova Scotia.

I didn’t have my trusty Canon camera with me and was disappointed to see a couple eagles high in the sky and geese in the V-formation heading southward. I needed a longer lens to photograph them. With only the phone it is impossible to get a close shot of them.

I did take phone photos anyway and complained to Hubs how I wish I had thought to bring the camera.

It was nice to see the changing of the leaves adding beautiful color along the highway to the Ferry Terminal at Wood Islands.

I saw a few boulders while looking over the cliff and thought of shasta@shasta and her #bouldersunday.

The Wood Islands lighthouse is in the background.

A massive hole in the side of the cliff. It probably was caused by the movement of the tide. Actually it was dangerous to stand too close as there had been yellow tape there to warn people to be careful with the cliff eroding. A piece of the yellow tape is still stuck to the cliff.

All in all it is a quiet Thanksgiving here on the Island. Besides being thankful for one’s blessings, it’s a great day to have a wonderful turkey dinner with all the fall vegetables, such as squash, turnip and cabbage.

Pumpkin Pie is always a favorite for desert topped with whipped cream or ice cream. Since I love pumpkin, I made two- one for another day.
