Monday morning greetings Peeps on the blockchain! I hope you have a great week ahead.

Here on my little Island, at this time of the year, we are having the cold weather characteristic of the Northern Hempisphere. In most areas the ground is still white from the first snowfall.

With the cold weather, a different wild animal came out of the forest to visit the back yard. Since I keep my two cats inside I don’t have to worry about the fox getting them and love to see him come around. .

The beautiful red fox is licking his lips. He tasted something he liked from the food I put out for the birds and squirrel. I had dipped some bread in gravy drippings and he must have managed to get some.

For years a fox visited and I could feed him out of my hand.

Here is a photo of the fox that I used to feed . He/she looks older than this new one and would wait for me every morning.

I don’t know what happened to him but missed seeing him after he stopped coming around.

This new one is not the same fox. He was afraid of me-as soon as I opened the back door he hobbled off down the forest path. I watched as he hobbled away. One back leg was injured and he was holding it up.

The fox’s luxurious fur makes him look bigger than he actually is. The adult fox weighs only about 12 lbs.

Here on PEI the fox’s main predator is the coyote. Coyotes are also members of the Dog Family but will not tolerate foxes in their territory.

I look forward to see the new little red fox again and hope there are no coyotes in this area to chase him off.
