Five minute freewrite with Prompt: FLEECE

I immediately think of the little ditty, ‘MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB, IT”S FLEECE WAS WHITE AS SNOW’ when I see or hear the word fleece or fleeced. But fleece can mean more than sheep’s wool when you put a ‘d’ on it.

Being fleeced is a real problem to unsuspecting people with the availability of the Internet. There’s always someone trying to make a quick buck and many people lose their life savings or, in other words, get fleeced by someone phoning to tell them a relative is stranded in Spain, or some such place, and needs money to get home.

These fleecers or gangsters might even know the name of this close relative who supposedly needs urgent money to travel home.

Closer to home- Hubby got an email saying this friend was in Valencia and had his money stolen. He needed a thousand dollars to get back to Canada. Hubby’s email must have been hacked and the friend’s name picked up from his mail. He only added the guy to his mail list a few days before.

Hubby knew better than acknowledge the request but there are many people, especially seniors, who get fleeced by wiring money to a location where they think a grandson or another relative needs their help.

Don’t follow like sheep and get fleeced when someone phones or emails for money or tells you your computer needs an update and it will cost. Some even have a phoney number you can phone to verify the call is from your internet provider.

Above photo is mine of birds resting on sheep. They pick ticks and insects off the sheep’s fleece. It’s a great relationship that benefits both sheep and birds.
