It’s a fun contest. Hivers, you will find a lot of the photos in your files appropriate for the letters.
I’m thinking of ‘C’ for CLOUDS.
This is sunset on an evening when there looks to be a fire in the sky with clouds glowing with red, orange and purple.
Still keeping my head in the clouds...
CONTRAILS
When an airplane or jet passes overhead there’s a trail left behind from the engine exhaust. This trail is called contrails which is short for condensation.
There has been much controversy about the negative health effect on earthlings when these aircraft contrails are chemtrails and linger in the atmosphere.
Getting back down to earth, CHIVES are my next ‘C’ choice.
This is a easy plant to grow and requires no maintenance. I often will pull out some to add to recipes in place of onions. The green tops can be chopped and added to salads. The chive plant is best used for consumption before it flowers.
The bees love the chives after they produce the pretty purple blooms.
CALF
Two calves suckling on their mothers. I had to stop driving and take the photo as it’s not often I see two mother cows and their calves in a front yard.
Looking up, I spy some CHERRIES on a tree at the edge of the forest.
These small cherries are not the plump bing cherries. They are called pin cherries. Some folks make a lovely jam out of them. They have a large pit inside and I leave them for the birds to enjoy.
My last subject with the letter ‘C’ is CROW
This is a crow I saw down by the Montague waterfront.
Like the raven, the intelligent crow is a magical bird and often written about in stories of the supernatural.
Crows have been associated with cemeteries and battlefields. A group of crows is called a murder. To the superstitious, seeing a murder of crows circling in the air is omen someone will die soon.
