The Lord of the Rings Author uses the outline Norse Mythological stories and characters. Tolkien from what I’ve read wanted to represent Northern European Mythos rather than using the Arthurian Mythos from Chaucer which is over represented whilst Northern mythos has been ignored and almost forgotten.
