There is a lot more history on the skull and how it is used in old pagan religions. I could go on and on about the Buddhist Vajrayana symbolism. The symbolism often has to do with holy, enlightening, positive things, but the object can be terrifying or disgusting because of our social conditioning. The skull in Tibetan Buddhism means wisdom, and Vajrayana's wisdom does not match Western views on wisdom. When people of different cultures react to some of my paintings or writings, I totally get it. Anyone reading this, lookup kapalas, skulls all over the world were used this way in many cultures. I bet even medieval Christian cultures had holy relics and symbols made from human bones. I find it fascinating how views change over time. Thank you enjoywithtroy@enjoywithtroy, I had a blast with this piece!
