With the start of classes in public schools in the Philippines, it's amazing how the weather seemed to have chosen this as the time to start going rainy.
Personally, as a kid, I had always preferred rainy days to sunny days. It was less hot. The raindrops on the rooftop of the school made a nice cadence and background noise. The smell of the dry ground getting wet was a weirdly satisfying sensation. And there was the small chance that one will be able to play around in the rain.
But being exposed to annual flooding and seeing how it impacts people's lives, one starts to appreciate one's comforts... having a safe house, having the luxury of not going to work if it gets too bad, and having provisions at home... and you start to wish it happened less for the people who don't have what you have. For most people in the Philippines, recovering from loss due to floods and storms and rain is not an easy feat.
Stay safe and stay dry, if you can. Keep the less fortunate in mind and help out, if you can as well.
