I'm not an economist, so I'll leave that debate up to the experts on how this can be treated or remedied.
The worrying part for me is that the government seemed to have programmed this. Philippine National Government spending is at a high with a lot of infrastructure projects. Revenue collection through taxes is not enough to cover all those. Additional debt is being incurred from partner countries. Ultimately, the hope here is that there is enough economic stimulation in the long term to offset the spending now.
The middle and upper class would probably be able to weather these. But for some of our countrymen, I can only hope that they are able to make ends meet.
And then you have people in NEDA saying P10,000 is enough for a family of 5.
Holy amazing statistics, Batman! Where the hell did they pull those numbers out of? If these are the figures being shown to our leaders, while they dine on P300+ merienda, no wonder there seems to be a disconnect.
