I've only recently gotten back to trying to write regularly on a blog like Steemit and I've found some stuff funny in this ecosystem.
For one thing, there's really a massive focus on the community building. Newbies (or should I start using the more popular term "minnows"?) such as myself are encouraged to post a lot, comment a lot, make friends, market, socialize, learn who the popular kids are, band together to support and upvote each other... which honestly sounds like a lot of work. Hahaha. As a digital introvert, I'm not into that scene and I think I'll just continue generally blogging and doing a few interaction now and then.
For another, there are areas in Steemit that seem to be very prolific while other areas are not. A quick link post and thoughts I had on cybersecurity garnered 18 upvotes while I've recently posted three different other topics that garnered nothing: no upvote, no comment, no feedback. It's interesting, to say the least. It makes me think I should choose my tags carefully (or do like an SEO and try to find the best keywords? I dunno).
I mention the second part because I think if Steemit is going to be something more than a niche platform, I believe there needs to be a more mass-driven audience here and not just the ones from early adopters. And that may mean bringing in people willing to blog about more than just the latest cyber trends and areas. Just some of my random thoughts.
