Some people mistake FAITH to be a mere feeling or Belief, forgetting that a mere feeling may come and go. Belief itself is not sufficient when it comes to God because even those who dosen't worship God still believe in something. Before delving to the importance of faith, let's see the bible definition of FAITH.
FAITH is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities that are not seen ( Heb 11:1)
So for our Faith to be strong in God, we need to focus on the present realities that are not yet seen. We also need to focus on things hoped for, that is events that haven't taken place. And when it's done, we will find out that our faith is grounded.
The scriptures at Heb 11:6 rightly states" without faith, it is impossible to please God well, for whoever approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him"
So this means that for us to believe that there is God and approach him, we need STRONG FAITH this will enable us to fufill our highest purpose in life, it will also draw us closer to God.
Jehovah God being our creator knows our makeups and knows we really need faith so he provided us with lot's of bible characters that will help us build and show faith such as Abraham, Hannah, Ruth, samuel, Mary e.t.c
Hannah is a dedicated servant of God and God blessed her with a loving and caring Husband Elkanah who treasured her greatly. She had a very challenging situation (BARRENESS) in her life and it sap's the joy in her life.
This problem left her unhappy added to the fact that she had a co-wife Penninnah who because she bore children to their husband Elkanah does all she can to remind Hannah of her problems and misery. Being a polygamous home, there was rivary, strife, heartache.
When time came for the annual pilgrimage in shiloh, the whole family was to attend so there were preparations for the event but penninah took it as an opportunity to remind hannah of her barreness leaving her bitter but God encouraged her by her husband Elkanah's words which says
"Am i not better to you than ten (10) sons" (1sam1:4-8)
But as a human she was still disturbed.
when they arrived at shiloh, Hannah after the family shared a meal, she pulled away and made her way to the tabernacle of God. She focused on her God and felt confident that she would be heared by God, if no one else could fully understand her plight that her father in heaven could see her bitterness so she began to weep. She spoke to God and her lips were shaking greatly as she mentally formed the words to express her pain so she made a vow to God saying
" if she had a son, she would dedicate the child to a life of service to God" (1sam1:9-11).
Hannah as she was praying, was mistaken to be drunk by the High priest Eli but instead of answering him harshly, she respectfully explained her situation to him and in reply Eli said to her
Go in peace and may God grant you the petition you have asked of him ( 1sam1:15-17)
After some months, Hannah became pregnant. She was overjoyed but never forgot where her blessings had come from. She later gave birth to a Son and named him SAMUEL which means "NAME OF GOD". when she finished weaning her baby Samuel, she took him to shiloh as vowed to God and visits him annually with beautifully made sleeveless coats for his service at the tabernacle.
