A Chinese company has developed a humanoid robot named T01 that can modify its own physical structure depending on the task at hand. Developed by the Beijing-based firm HFUN-TECH, the robot was unveiled at the 2026 World Robot Conference. The manufacturer describes the machine as an inherently transformable humanoid.


Its design differs from that of most current humanoids; rather than permanently replicating a human body structure—with two arms and two legs dedicated to fixed functions—the T01 employs limbs capable of assuming different roles. On even surfaces, the robot can move using wheels, a configuration that facilitates tasks such as navigation and package retrieval in logistics and warehouse environments, as walking on two legs is not always the most efficient mode of transport.


However, when encountering stairs or uneven terrain, the configuration can change. The T01 features transformable arms that can convert into legs, allowing the robot to shift from a wheeled platform to a machine capable of bipedal locomotion to overcome obstacles that would challenge a strictly wheeled system.




After clearing an obstacle, it can revert to the configuration best suited for smooth surfaces; however, there is a third mode of operation: the T01 can also transform into a type of personal vehicle. In this configuration, a person can sit on the robot while the structures serving as arms act as controls. According to information released about the project during the World Robot Conference, the T01 can reach speeds of up to 10 km/h in this mode.


The company has not yet published detailed information regarding battery life, load capacity, full dimensions, or commercial pricing. Although the robot is listed by specialized distributors, the price is available only upon request. Consequently, the project remains in an initial phase of presentation and commercialization. Its key demonstrated feature is its transformable architecture: rather than building a robot that must walk like a human in every situation, HFUN-TECH created a machine that can use wheels when they are most efficient, legs when the terrain demands them, and even transform its structure into a vehicle to transport a person.
