I came online on twitter and the first thing I saw on twitter was this caption, What Motivates you to make money and I went into a deep thought. I started thinking, to try to recollect my very first moment of realisation that made me or rather, motivated me to want to make money. It started far back to when I was five years old, I figured that whenever I wanted something I had to beg my parents or guardian to have it, or I needed their approval and that comes with giving me some money to get what I wanted. If I saw a pack of cookies and I wanted it, I had to pray and hope that my parents approve it, then they can give me the money to buy it. Most times when they dont approve that or give me money to get anything I wanted, I end up throwing a tantrum and cry until I get what I wanted. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes I cry my eyes out and get what I want, sometimes I dont get it.

Growing up I started realising that my parents or guidan didn’t get me all I wanted not because they dont like me or dont get care about what I wanted, but because they are not in financial abundance. Being an adult comes with a lot of financial discipline and responsibilities, you have to spend money on the important things like the basic needs not on your want desires. These needs are basic needs like paying the bills, providing food for the family and making sure there is shelter. Being a family man or woman means you have to care for the family and if you have kids, you have to care for the kids too. As a father or mother, the kids basic needs will always come first over their basic wants like wanting too many ice creams, cookies or candy. As an adult you can do your best to provide the basic needs, if you can afford to entertain the extra basic wants, then you will do that. But if you can’t provide that, that is when you tell the child No. I realised this when I got older and that was the moment that motivated me to want to make money. I realised that most people who restrict their children from getting some certain things do that from the place of lack, and the parents who get their children whatever they wanted, did that from the place of abundance. Even though both parents love their children so much, unfortunately some lack and some have it in abundance.
Being an adult now, I have seen another side of life that have motivated me to want to make money and that is comfortability and independence. When you have money you can get as comfortable as you want, you have the power to get whatever you desire and you have the independence to do whatever you want at whatever time pleases you. If you want to go on vacation as adult with a lot of money, you dont need anyone’s permission, but if you have a sponsor who sponsors your lifestyle, then you are depending on them, their decision play a vital role to if you are going to go on that vacation or not. And if you dont have money or dont have a sponsor, then going on vacation is far from your goal because you are focused and distracted by the basic things in life which is trying to get money to survive and provide for your feeding and shelter. Going on vacation will seem like an unattainable luxury. So my motivation to make money is to be able to provide myself, my family and loved ones what we want without feeling like we are lacking. All these and more is the motivation I need to want to make money.
