Someone sent $1.2 Million worth of bitcoin to Satoshi Nakamuto’s Genesis bitcoin wallet address. From the transaction the wallet burnt the $1.2 Million, it assumed it was programmed to burn it because it assumed that Satoshi Nakamuto has no access to the wallet or must have lost the keys. Do you think it’s a mistake or this person did this on purpose? I can’t help but think about others who have lost money in the crypto space because of some honest mistake like missing a letter or a number. Just like Hive, lots of people have made mistake of sending Hive to the wrong account because they made a mistake in the letters or numbers. I have made the mistake of sending Hive to Binance without inputing the MEMO and ended up losing the money.

Technology comes with easy access and easy way of doing things, but that could also come with easy disadvantage. Few years ago you had to go to the bank to deposit or withdraw money, you had to cross check the name properly and make sure the name was right, and you can’t leave your house all the way to the bank only to make the mistake of depositing the money to the wrong bank number. But today we can easily do this with our phones, I can’t count how many times I have sent money or made payments without cross check if the name of the account number is correct. The simplicity of technology today is over looked hence the reason we take it for granted most times and we end up making mistakes.

For instance, because it’s easy to whip out your phone, go to your mobile bank app and put an account number to send money to at ease, we don’t bother to check if we are sending it to the right address or not. After sending it, we notice if we did it right only after some few seconds when our brain tries to trick us that we could have made a mistake. I buy airtime with my mobile app, I have once bought airtime for the wrong phone number before, I was angry but decided to be more careful. So as for the person who sent $1.2 Million worth of bitcoin to Satoshi Nakamuto genesis wallet, what do you think? Did they make a mistake or they did it on purpose?
