With 15 books it is hard to image that they are all good. Maybe it is better not to read the books first again because they changed a lot from the books from what I understand. If you don't remember what they changed, maybe it will bother you less. I did feel like it stands on it own pretty well, I didn't feel like we are missing out on important information or that it feels rushed.
