Technically after endless postponing New Mutants is set to hit theaters on August 28, 2020. However, though studios are reluctant to admit this, summer 2020 is just not going to happen. And this movie has been pushed way too many times. It was originally set at a 2018 movie, that's how many times it has been pushed. So it seems likely that instead of a new release date, New Mutants will go straight to the small screen.
On July 23 New Mutants will have a panel at ComicCon@Home which will include the writer-director Josh Boone and most of the cast. They may announce that the movie is going straight to PVOD. Or it can go straight to PVOD on the day of the panel. Wouldn't that be fun? There is another rumor that says the movie will hit Disney+ on September 3, with no theatrical release and no PVOD. As Disney needs money right now, I think that PVOD seems more likely than straight to Disney+. I don't see how such a movie will bring in new subscribers, but it could make the current once happier. I hope to see the movie as soon as possible.
We will also know the answer soon enough. Although I think that August 28 is just not going to happen. What do you think?
