Mortal Kombat – First Images and Release Date are here
I can't help it, I love Mortal Kombat and I am super excited for this movie. The only thing this movie needs in order to be good is fight choreography, because no one watches Mortal Kombat for the plot. It already has the second most important thing, it is rated-R, so we will get to see some brutal fatalities in those fighting choreographies. The cast seems very promising and so are these first images:
Meet Joe Taslim (The Raid) as Sub-Zero.
I think this is Ludi Lin ( Power Rangers) as Liu Kang with his subtle fire blasts and the hat means that it is Kung Lao played by Max Huang.
Mehcad Brooks (Supergirl) plays Major Jackson 'Jax' Briggs. This look got mocked by the internet, but I'm sure it's just a bad picture.
Josh Lawson plays a really bloody looking Kano. No metal plate covering half his face here.
We get another image of Sub-Zero fighting against his deadly enemy Scorpion played by Hiroyuki Sanada (Westworld, Avengers: Endgame). I hope we will get to see Scorpion with all of his gear and not just like this.
I am not sure who are we seeing in this image, but I think it is Lewis Tan (Deadpool 2) as Cole Young who is an original character created for this movie.

And last but not least the Liu Kang and Kung Lao due again.
These pictures are very gritty which makes me think that we will be getting a more realistic version of Mortal Kombat. I mean, as realistic as we can get considering the general plot of fighting to save the earth.
I love James Wan, but he is only producing this movie and not directing it. He is only a so so producer. Simon McQuoid will direct this movie and even though he is super in demand in the commercial business, this will be his first time directing a movie. So that got me worried. Plus, WB really know how to ruin movies. The fact that this movie will be released in theaters and in HBO MAX at the same time in the United States in April is not a good vote of confidence in my opinion. Yes, the movie is set to come out on 16 of April, 2021. I know I will enjoy this movie no matter what, but I really want it to be a good movie. I really do.
I hope that soon we will get a trailer to help us better judge the movie. I want to see some serious action and ridicules costumes. And Mileena in action, since there is no Kitana in this movie. I want a lot of Mileena kicking ass.
