This morning, I came out to look for any ripe figs from our tree in the back garden and found a big one with a small hole in it. Damn! It is those pesky birds, I know it!
A group of birds can easily destroy the fruit from a fig tree. In my case, my next door neighbor has a massive tree in their garden so lots of birds, pigeons and even squirrels perch on it. Every year I have a race against those birds and squirrels but of course in the end they always get more figs than I!
The worst thing is the birds don't eat much from the fig tree, they just like to have a taste of each one, picking small holes in one fig then moving to the next one, eventually ruining a lot of your perfectly ripe figs. What a waste! This really made me frustrated.
I honestly don't know how to keep the birds away from my fig tree. I can only pick each fig early in the morning before the birds get to all of them and also pick them later in the day. Feel free to leave any advice or tips if you have similar experiences, lol.
