I'm heading over to join the skateboarding community right after I make this comment! I'm really excited to see support for non-crypto/gaming/technology subjects on the site but particularly for skateboarding as it's something I really only get to enjoy vicariously unlike photography and a lot of the other "usual" type of communities where I have my own abilities in the field.

I never learned how to skate when I was a kid, even though Gleaming the Cube was one of my favorite movies and I had a total puppy-dog crush on Tony Hawk. As I moved into adulthood I noticed skate parks becoming a much more common feature of the town and cities I lived in; something that was a heartening thing to see in previously too-staunch midwestern towns.

A good handful of years ago I realized there was no huge reason to not just up and learn as an adult and gave it a try, getting some help from younger cousins. Turns out I had some catching up to do as I couldn't stay balanced even going straight on smooth concrete! But that inspired me to improve my fitness more and while I ended up doing BJJ instead of skating, I'm still looking forward to when I have time to tackle it again!
