“I used to not have a lot of confidence when I was little. Conversation skills were something I didn't have at all. I was terrible at talking to people I didn't know. I would repeatedly turn things over in my mind before I said them out loud. I hated taking the bus because you had to talk to the conductor as he came over to collect your fare. I didn’t enjoy that at all. Over the years, I realized that it’s much easier to act like you’re a confident person than actually being one. Most people can’t even tell the difference between the two. So, that’s what I do now. I fake confidence. It makes life a whole lot easier.
Deep down, I’m still that awkward kid who has trouble talking to people. But I try not to let people see that. To be honest, I’m not sure there is even much of a difference between actually being confident and acting like you are. Who is to say that most people aren’t just like me: appearing to be strong and confident on the outside but in reality are just really good actors?”
