Okay, there's a few points there so I'll have to attack them one by one:
- On privilege. It's such a basic explanation for a complex issue. It's like having a General Doctor performing Brain Surgery. There are so many determining factors going into this that any form of privilege just doesn't cut it.
Perhaps in America it may have worked at some point in time but when you take it over to Europe then it generally falls apart. The really poor people over this way are the Eastern block Europeans and they are ghostly white -- so it all falls apart then.
Then slavery. What happens when we've all been enslaved to some country at some point in our history -- mostly white on white. American culture is so backward and often forgets to take into account the wider world.
But now? Yes, absolutely class privilege. That's it in a nutshell.
- Your thoughts on norms condition us. Yes, I believe this too - but remember, there will always always be someone that wants more for themselves. When we achieve true equality then the balance would be so frail that anyone straying from the thought-norm can change the balance of the general goals.
To counteract this countries in the past have disappeared those individuals - sound familiar?
