Musical Movie
Last post we spoke about stage plays. But with recent technology, entertainment alternatives like TV and movies took over the conventional stage play. Nevertheless, the charm of stage plays is still overwhelming and I would call this the emergence of a hybrid, which are musical movies. Things like "High School Musical" and so on, they are really pretty popular when they first emerged. So today, let us talk about musical movies.
First Musical Movie
The first musical movie ever screened was "The Jazz Singer", which debuted in 1927. Yes, 1927, before WW2. That is like erm... literally almost a century ago, 96 years ago.
The Jazz Singer was produced by Warner Brothers, the daring first to incorporate audio track (diegetic and non-diegetic music) into the movie with only a short sequence of dialogue.
I would say, this would be the revolutionary piece back in the days, going to the theatres and be treated to a buffet of music.
My Favourite Musical Movie
My favourite, would got to be "The Greatest Showman". Hands down, the best I had so far.
I love it so much, and I think that it is so successful, that every single song in the movie is a hit! Not only that, the storyline is wonderful, inspiring and lovely. I think there is an awesome marry of storyline to music and songs. It doesn't sound cringy, and the way things were incorporated was seamless and purposeful. It enhances the entire movie experience.
One of the lead actor is Hugh Jackman, yups you got that right!

In case you guys do not know, Hugh Jackman is an awesome singer that has his entertainment roots stemmed from plays and musical. Just that his awesomely ripped body made him an equally attractive gem to the films industry.
