작년에 이 작가가 쓴 The giver라는 책을 재미있게 봤기에 요 책도 기대감을 갖고 읽었다.
세계2차대전 당시 나치 통치하의 덴마크에 사는 열살 소녀의 눈으로 본 세상! 유대인인 친구가 스웨덴으로 탈출할 수 있도록 돕는 내용인데, 정말 중간중간 심장이 쫄깃쫄깃해졌다. 사실 한국어판 제목이 "별을 헤아리며"라서 뭔가 낭만적인 이야기가 아닌가 싶었는데, 여기서 상징하는 별은 유대인이었던것이다. (책 표지에 유대인을 상징하는 별모양 목걸이가 있어서 아주 살짝 감이 오긴 했지만;;;)
전쟁, 우정, 용기등에 대해 생각해 볼 수 있는 책! 단어나 문장도 어렵지 않아 아이들이 초등 고학년쯤 되면 함께 읽어도 좋을 책인것 같다!
