책의 주인공인 윌로우는 천재소녀인데, 뭔가 불안하거나 마음이 편치 않을때면 7씩 세는 버릇이 있다. 7,14,21,28,35,42.... 윌로우가 좋아하는 숫자는 7, 색깔은 빨강! 그래서 제목도 물고기 한마리도 빨강으로 색칠되어 있나보다. 그리고 표지에 있는 "If you're lost, you might need to swim against the tide"라는 문장도 책을 읽고 나니 상당히 와닿았다.
윌로우는 고아다. 한 부부에게 입양되어 키워지지만, 부부는 교통사고로 죽는다. 정말 슬픈 운명. 그래도 다행히 베트남 가족을 만나서 새로운 가족을 갖게 된다. 가슴 아프지만 따뜻한 이야기. 이 책은 영어원서읽기 모임에서 읽은 책인데, 우리 스터디원중 한분은 이 책이 "엉터리 미드 같지만 따뜻한 책이었다"라고 평하였다. 윌로우의 카운슬러인 Dell이 등장하는 부분은 정말 미드보는 듯한 느낌이 들기도 했다. ㅋㅋ 그래도 중간중간 마음에 드는 문장이 많았다! 가볍지만 가볍지만은 않은 그런 책! 책이 좀 두껍긴 하지만 단어도 문장도 쉬워서 영어초보자에게도 추천!
