When I was younger, becoming famous was not that easy, it was not possible overnight. At that time only singers, actors and writers would gain fame, or someone who has done a good deed for the society. They had to work hard many years to build a good name and earn respect. For an example in the era of Michael Jackson people knew him even though people didn't have advanced technologies but he was known worldwide for being the best singer. His talent for singing helped him gain the popularity but it was not easy at all, it took him years to reach that position in people's heart.
As time changed and technologies improved, Today, things are very different. With social media people can get viral overnight without having any talent. Their one video can becomes viral and that completely change someone's life. It sounds exciting but is it really worth it? Because people are getting involved in dangerous risks just to get other people's attention.
I see both the good and bad sides of social media. It's creating income opportunities for the people who were unable to find a job and on the other hand some are misusing it. I am a family man so I naturally think about safety before popularity. I can understand the crave for going viral because a successful video can bring fame, money, and many new opportunities. It may change their lives and I have seen many live stories. There were some people who once lived in a slum are now leading a luxurious life in UAE, USA, and many more countries. I am happy truly for their success because they have struggled a lot. I think everyone has different kind of struggles so we shouldn't compare it and decide which one is struggle and which isn't. Some people have even built businesses and careers from a single viral post. That is something we cannot ignore.
However, I feel sad when I see people putting their lives at risk just to gain views and followers. For an example climbing buildings, doing challenge's without any safety or create harmful pranks without thinking about the possible results. A few seconds of internet fame is not worth losing your life. The internet quickly moves on to the next trend and no one will remember you, but the consequences of one bad decision can last forever. The family members and closed ones will always suffer from the pain of losing their loved ones.
What worries me even more is seeing some parents use their own children just to attract attention online. I have come across videos where children are being forced to make contents. They do injustice to their own children just for some views and comments. This breaks my heart. should never be used as a way to earn money or become famous on social media.
I believe it is possible to become popular by being creative and consistent. It may take extra time but one day the success will be achieved. Also, if someone has gained popularity through their talent then they are more respected and their name lasts much longer than attention gained from risky actions.
One viral moment can open doors to new opportunities and bring regret if it comes at the cost of safety. I personally don't support the idea to become famous for doing something foolish. So, I think that no amount of online fame is worth risking our lives.
