Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing great. So, found this post on Hive and thought it's a great opportunity to share my experience about Hive so far. Thanks to the organizers who thought about it.
So, I will answer the questions one by one.
It's time for my introduction, obviously it's not an introduction post. It's for the contest theme. So, here am I. My name is Rayhan, my age is 50+, I am married and I have two young daughters. My childhood was very painful, my father passed away because of kidney stone and I was a kid at that time and my mother had to raise 5 children all alone. Since, then I decided to be always there for my family. So that in the future they will never go through the things I did. So, family is important for me and they are my first priority. I have been dealing with the usual responsibilities of life for them.
My hobby is writing and I just love to write during my leisure time. Sometimes, I play some games because I still have that inner child. I love to watch anime and my favourites are Full Metal Alchemist and Bleach. My new favourites are Attack on Titan and One Piece. Other than that, I am a big fan of Marvel and DC. I just love to watch superheroes movies. I also, like to watch K-drama and other series. So, these are the things I enjoy doing in my leisure time.
I am from a small country which is Bangladesh 🇧🇩. It's not that famous but we are famous for garments & Jute. Also, we have the longest natural sea beach on earth and that is Cox's Bazar. If you're still curious where is Bangladesh? Then let me tell you it is located in South Asia and we have around 178 million people in our country. Our mother tongue is Bangla. But English is taught in school from the very beginning and it's compulsory because it's an international language. So, we usually speak Bangla or English and sometimes mixed. That is why, I know English but not fluent at it.
It's been a year, since I joined Hive. At first when I joined, I had no idea about what was I supposed to do. Moreover, I have never worked with crypto and had bare minimum knowledge about wallets and all, so everything felt completely new to me. But now I know how to select a community for a specific topic and how to post and add tags. At some point, I thought of quitting because Hive was hard to understand. In present time I am very comfortable here than I was when I started. Honestly, I had an idea that people write blogs here but I didn't know what Hive was and what was the other frontend like Ecency, Peakd, inleo, hiveblog and many other.
My niece @zoe01 brought me here. She gave me knowledge about how to use the Hive so that I won't have to struggle. She helped me to understand it better. But I probably would have quit using it if there was no one to guide me.
I started using Hive regularly and realized I can also earn from here. That was a shocker because I didn't know people would get paid for writing blogs and I used to think people just love writing and that is the only reason they write but there's a bonus point that you can earn from your writings.
There are many things I like about Hive and my most favourite thing are freedom and ownership. I have used many Web2 platforms, I have faced aggressive people and throwing tantrums for no reason. Whenever I had a different opinion, there were people who would use slangs and say things to demotivate. Even normal writings would end up being attacked because they disagreed with it.
On the other hand, Hive made me feel good about myself that my opinion matters and I matter. I have no problem if someone disagrees with my opinions but attacking me personally is something I won't like. I like the positive and supportive vibes on hive, people are friendly and kind As a new comer I have received so much love and support which I can't express in words. Also, on Hive no one is competing for likes and followers. There is more of a community feeling here. I also like that my content is supposed to stay here permanently.
One thing I think should be changed is that they should add the option to change username for once. When someone is new like me they don't that their name will be permanent and they won't be able to change it in the future. So, some people may simply pick something random because they don't know how important the username will become. Later, they may regret that choice which I have done before. This is not my first account it's my 2nd account but it's main. So, I stopped using my previous account the moment I got my new account. So, there isn't really a simple way to change the username, you can only change your nickname.
I understand that there may be some valid reasons behind this, because it's on a blockchain. But I still think there could be some kind of solution for that to let users to have an option to change username at least for once.
I have tried that obviously and The first person was my one and only wife. Because I know she has the capability to write stories that can make people love reading her posts. But, she doesn't speak English. So, she has been avoiding it because of the language. But she writes very well in Bangla.
Other than my wife, I have also mentioned Hive to other people. But they always reply,"I don't have time to write blogs."
I do understand them because not everyone likes to write, so that's their personal choice. Also, when I write blogs it takes me hours and sometimes it's done faster. But writing regularly takes time and if you have work and responsibilities then sometimes it's not possible. Everyone would not want to spend their free time writing.
So, I was not successful to bring many people to Hive yet. Maybe one day I will finally bring someone, maybe that will start with my wife. Also, I had friends on Hive but sadly I didn't not ask for their personal contacts, that is why we are no longer in touch.
After one year on Hive, I would say this platform gave me the peace which I was looking for a long time. I have the opportunity to meet people from another countries and be friends with them.
For me, Hive is not just about earning rewards or publishing posts. It's like my home now, where I can relax without worrying. And after one year, I am still here, writing my own little pieces. I know people are now upset because hive price is dropping continuously but this is the time when we should be most active and it's the best time for publishing your content to reach more people. I'm grateful to Hive, it helped me a lot. In my financial crisis Hive has been there for me. Everyone does not have the same privilege in life, Hive is a platform which will not return you empty handed.
There are many platforms but there's none like Hive. My love for Hive is infinity, even if we drop to zero, I will be here because Hive has been here for me when I had nothing.
