Hello everyone, how your Splinterlands matches went? I'm here again, it's time for Modern Ranked match.
This time, I matched with 26 Mana, I won't be able to build the team I usually use but I will have to choose wisely. I like the Healed Out modifier, it means units and summoners lose all abilities that restore health. I thought it's going to create some difficulties for me.
My decision needs to be good because of the low mana. I need to carefully think about which cards would give me the best chance of surviving and dealing enough damage. In my mind I already had the thought of using the fire element.
Mana: 26
Modifier: Healed Out (Units and summoners lose all abilities that restore health)
Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon
You all can see that the mana is 26 , at first I wanted to use fire element but then I had decided to go with my Death team again. I have been enjoying using Thalgrimore, because in low-Mana battles he can help me reduce the enemy's health and that can make a big difference in the match.
I began to build my team and after choosing my summoner, I had only enough Mana for three monsters, so every position was important. I could have used some small mana cards but I didn't want to put them there for no reason.
Here was my lineup:
Summoner
Thalgrimore - All enemy units have -1 Health (Level 1)
1st Position – Nim Guard Captain (Level 1)
2nd Position – Vengeful Monk (Level 1)
3rd Position – Lenore Nevermore (Level 1)
As always Nim Guard Captain got his first position because I wanted a strong defensive card at the front. I needed my tank to survive long enough for the other cards to do their job.
Behind him, I placed Vengeful Monk. Both of them are like made for each other. Spellmonger could be there but the mana is low so I had to choose wisely. I really like using him in low-Mana battles instead of using Spellmonger or Sorrow Harvester. Monk and Captain works nicely together with Thalgrimor's ability. He always attacks the enemy with least health because of 2 melee power he can reduce 2 health's.
So, the match didn't even start properly, and my enemy's team were already losing health from my summoner and Weaken.
For the last position, I chose Lenore Nevermore. She is another card I like using in Death teams because he is very powerful. I have been using her a lot lately. Her attacks non-melee enemy unit behind the first position and it's her ability which is called (Snipe).
With only three cards, I couldn't afford to waste Mana on cards that wouldn't help in the match. I wanted a small team but strong where every card had a purpose.
My enemy, ORESERU, I noticed that they had also gone with a small lineup. He choose Chuul Jujinchi summoner which has the option for both earth and life element. In his team he had, Ulundin Overseer (flank), Lurking Puffer (corrosive ward), Kanaaq Miner (sneak)
So this time, I didn't have that scary feeling of seeing seven enemy cards like in my previous battle. Both of us had only three cards that made the fight much more balanced.
The Healed Out modifier made things harder. Since healing abilities couldn't restore health we could not rely on healing to recover during the battle. Also, I didn't have any cards that would heal and neither my opponent. The battle started and both teams immediately began attacking.
My main hope was that Captain could hold the frontline while Monk and Nevermore continued attacking too. Thalgrimore's ability was useful from the beginning because all enemy units had their health reduced by 1.
The fight continued for several rounds, and both teams were slowly losing their monsters. I was keeping an eye on my frontline because if Nim Guard Captain fell too early, things could have become difficult. My team managed to stay together long time to end the enemy team.
The battle ended after 5 rounds.
Seeing the VICTORY screen was another nice moment. I was happy with this result because there wasn't much Mana to work with but the Death combination worked exactly how I wanted.
After the victory, my rating increased to 320 rating in Bronze III. I also earned +81 Glint from the battle.
So, no special bonus reward this time, but the +81 Glint was still useful. I am currently continuing to play and slowly build up my progress. Sometimes the smaller battles are actually more enjoyable because you have to think carefully about every card instead of simply filling the seats.
This was another quick and enjoyable Modern Ranked battle. With only 26 Mana and the Healed Out modifier, I had to keep my lineup simple. Reducing the enemy's health before the attacks even started gave my team a nice advantage.
In the end, my three cards were enough to secure the victory in 5 rounds.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my battle report!
