Hello again #dtube and steem blockchain!!!! I'm out planting strawberries as a living edible ground cover and wanted to show you all that... and some of the other ground covers that live in our food forest. Many layers to a food forest and one of them is the ground cover level. "Stacking functions".. like making the ground cover a nitrogen fixing ground cover that is also a pollinator attractor and food/medicine for our family... is one way we do this. Come take a look as we stroll and show....on this warm afternoon in S. Utah.

In this video I show: White dutch clover, comfrey, dandelion, and strawberry. Soooo many to choose from...but these particular species have done well in our food forest. I re seed clover as needed in spotty patches...or where i want to extend their reach. The wood chip layer you see in this video is the skin layer of the food forest. The ground cover layer is like the fine hairs on top! :)

So much going on in the food forest it's hard to capture in one video....lol...but I did my best to show you some highlights of what's happening TODAY! I'll be back again soon with more tours and tips. Happy growing fellow steemians! Thanks for tuning IN! We appreciate ALL of you! Food forests work! I testify!

For those looking to create an urban food forest in their neck of the woods...or just want to learn more, I HIGHLY recommend Toby's book: https://www.amazon.com/Garden-Permaculture-Hemenway-Chelsea-Paperback/dp/B00DWWE3ZQ/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=gaias+garden+second+edition&qid=1554157532&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull

Happy growing!!
