Until I entered the world of amatuer photography I did not appreciate the wide variety of dragonflies that inhabit this region of North Florida.
Each dragonfly phtograph I take is now an identification challenge. I would like to add two more entries into my (and your) Dragonfly experiences and vocabulary.
This first one has a yellow body with a black stripe, yellow highlighted spots on the wings and brown eyes. After some research I believe it is a Four-spotted Pennant. It was very patient and beautiful.
This second dragonfly's identification is slightly up for debate. However, due to the large size, prominant blue coloring and wing markings, I believe it is a Great Blue Skimmer.
It flew off this twig and then reset in the same position several times, allowing me to get several angles and close ups.
It did not appear to be concerned about me being very close to it. I believe I could have touched it if I wanted to, but I decided not to disturb it any further.
