For those who haven't yet seen the details of this project which has been mentioned in several newsletters, I thought it best to copy the information into a post for everyone to read as we are already in April and ANZAC Day is fast approaching.
I would very much like to see a combined #teamaustralia and #teamnz project to honour and commemorate all those involved in the campaign.
To do this, I have a plan:
• each year we have a theme to work around. This year I propose - Unsung Heroes
• we each find a soldier, one who is not well-known, and create a post about them - their background, their war effort, a pic, any medals, etc
• we can pick a person from our own families, but if that is not anonymous enough there are military sites which list soldiers so you can easily pick one
• 'register' the name of the soldier you pick, so we don't have double-ups
• you can do a profile on more than one person
• you can also do a profile on someone involved but not a soldier - this could include an animal mascot, or medical personnel, etc
• my thought is that we get all our profiles ready before the day and we can either do a mass posting on the 25th, or during the week leading up to the day
• we stick to the Gallipoli campaign as the ANZAC concept directly evolved from it - we could do a similar project for other military efforts on Remembrance Day perhaps
• tags: I propose we use #ANZAC as the first tag on all posts, then #military #history #lestweforget and #teamaustralia or #teamnz
If you don't want to come into our Discord server, you can leave your name registration in a comment below. Remember to cite sources you've used in your research.
Please spread the word to any fellow team mate who may not see this, so they may join in on the project too. The more ANZACs we remember, the better.
