When I was a little boy, I used to make lots of drawings. I really, really loved to draw. I made a drawing of my cat, dog, plants, flowers, leaves, trees, clouds, mountain and everything. I can say that my most favorite habit that time was drawing. I can still remember, if I am not mistaken, I started to draw as early as 4. Yeah that's right, before I started schooling, drawing was the first thing and skill I learned. Thanks to my father who taught and inspired me to draw.
'Til now when I close my eyes, I see a piece of memory of me and my father taking a walk to a place nearby a sea and there were boats and ships. I can barely remember what place thar was. Maybe a port or a shore. And from that place, my father would pick a stick and would start drawing something on the ground. I always got excited of what he was going to draw. It could be an airplane, it could be a boat or a ship or a house or even an animal. But whatever it was, it surely amazed me that much!
That drawing habit of mine was with me all the time from gradeschool to highschool. I even dreamt to be a painter or an animator someday. I made drawings of my favorite superheroes and anime characters. I also made a painting of John Denver 'coz he was one of my father's favorite singer and that painting really amazed him. I painted a portrait of a river under a sunset. My classmates just did not believe I just made such a wonderful painting. Unfortunately, I did not manage to keep any of that drawings and paintings. I haven't even had a chance to take pictures of them. If i only had an android phone that time.
When I got to college, lots of things has changed. Studies made me so busy. New hobbies filled my every day life such as playing guitar, internet surfing and playing pc games. After school life, I just had a job then eventually had my own family. I don't know the exact reason, but I suddenly set that drawing habit aside and forgotten for more than a "DECADE". I thought I would not be making any drawing or sketching for the rest of my life.
Proceeding to our main topic, one day afternoon, when I got home from work, I grabbed a pencil and would like to draw a superhero like what I used to do before. The first hero came to my head was Superman. But I had a change of heart 'coz that hero is too common. It should be different and must be something in connection with our beloved platform.
So, I decided to create my own hero figure. I just played with my imagination and had fun doing it then came up with this cool-looking man in costume. I called him "The Man of Steem"! Haha. Sounds familiar but I think it's the perfect name for this guy.
Here is the drawing progression.
Layouting:
Next is the face.
I put the steem logo on the forehead. It means "Focused". Focusing on achieving his goals and fullfilling his dreams.
Next are shading and highlighting:
A bit color enhancement using photo editor. And that would be all.
Thanks for reading.
