馃 The common sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos)
- Actitis (Greek) - inhabitant of the coast
- hypoleucos (Greek): - whitish
These birds live near bodies of water, rivers, and lakes. Their dull calls can already be heard in early May, right at the peak of mating season.
On the outskirts of my city, these guys like to stroll along the banks of the river flowing through the city, and people sunbathing on the beaches often see these birds from afar.
