It was recently in the news here that a 12 year old girl in one of the cities took her own life. Yeah, definitely not a happy note to start on. I didn't know her or anything, but it did get me thinking about.. stuff. For one, why did she do it? According to the media she did it after her teacher told her she was dumb. But I'm going to take that with a grain, nay a spoon, of salt, because it's the media.
The media and society are quick to blame the teacher, while a smaller part of the population asks why the child had problems with a simple comment like that and if there wasn't more behind it and her life. So who was wrong? Was it the teacher? Or was it the parents for not teaching their daughter to be strong? I think both are at fault. Even though I tend to side more with that smaller part of society that wants to look at her upbringing.
A child's mind is like a piece of clay, waiting to be formed. If done wrong, this will be misshapen and very hard to change later on. Parents and or caretakers have the privilege of being responsible for this. To guide in such a way, that no negative thought or comment in the outside world would have much effect on a strong and well developed mind. She also needed to have someone she could open up to, but this was probably not the case. The teacher is also responsible for this, but that's what you get with a broken education system. As society we are also responsible, so be sure to give guidance where needed and set a good example for our young humans as they are supposed to be the future.
