A characteristic feature of gnats is the external resemblance to stinging hymenoptera (wasps, bees). In real life, it is easy to understand that in front of you is a fly, because it has a different buzzing (the sound itself resembles the buzzing of a large fly), body shape, flight, and of course the eyes like a fly. It is not uncommon to see murmurs hovering in the air, from time to time making sharp jerks in different directions and also returning in a flash. Body length up to 2.5 cm.
Sweet wasp Belongs to the genus Prionyx family of digging wasps. The genus has 60 species. Length up to 3.5 cm. Nests are built in the ground, they consist of one or more cells. They hunt orthoptera (grasshoppers, crickets, mares, etc.). Caught prey is paralyzed by injections of stings into nerve nodes. The prey is most often transferred by land, sometimes by air. Food is delivered to the nest and stored there in cells. The cell completely filled with food with the laid egg is closed by a stopper for which the substrate surrounding a nest serves.
Adults feed on nectar, sweet secretions of sucking multi-winged insects (aphids, cicadas, etc.), sometimes lick the sap flowing from plants and even, as an exception, squeeze the nectar collected by them from the hives of bees.
