Hello, Steemit/DTube
My name is Ronald, also known around the internet as Random Ron. I was around when YouTube first started. Now granted, I wasn't old enough to have my own account during the time, but I remember seeing a community thrive. There were so many content creators with creative ideas and creative videos becoming reality and I wanted to be part of that community when I got older. Even the slogan back then, "Broadcast Yourself," spoke to me to begin my internet career.
However, as time went on, YouTube started becoming more & more problematic. Videos being flagged & taken down, people getting demonetized, YouTube practically screwing over its content creators, no real way for smaller channels to gain popularity, there can be an entire novel for what is wrong with them. If the 2013 YouTube Apocalypse didn't push me over the edge, than this whole Adpocalypse of 2017, or just the year of 2017 in general, is what did The Spirit of YouTube began to die and the creativity & community I wanted to be part of began to fade with it.
I started searching for alternatives, sites that had potential to compete with YouTube, and I came across DTube. What I see is a small site that shows much potential. This site now reminds me of what YouTube used to be back in the day. A site where people can create their own content. I want to see where this site leads & I'm curious about the results. I'm looking forward to what you have in store and what this community becomes.
