HEY GUYS !!! In this article we will talk about the science behind the working of earthen pots.
Earthen pots are used to store and cool the water to a significantly lower temperature as compared to the surrounding temperature.EARTHEN POTS are commonly used all over india and neighbouring countries as a storage water cooler...It is being used since ancient times.
SCIENCE BEHIND COOLING
Earthen pots have many micro pores which allow the water from inside to leak outside through the walls of pot(capillary action).A thin layer of water film surrounds the pot which is directly in contact with the stored water in the pot through the micro pores. The outer water film comes in contact with the dry air and evaporates taking away the heat from the stored water.
THE HEAT FOR EVAPORATION OF WATER IS TAKEN ITSELF FROM THE STORED WATER AND HENCE THERE IS A DROP IN THE TEMPERATURE OF THE STORED WATER.....
