Were you stunned? Damage bypasses the shield when you are stunned or asleep.

Btw, in your second game video, noticed that you saved one energy in your last turn. Was it because you did the math and knew that 2 cards were enough to block max damage from the bird? If it was, I am expecting to see great things from you haha..
