One of the things I loved most about Menorca was that every beach felt completely different.
This one wasn't a huge sandy beach. It was a small cove with crystal-clear water, lots of rocks and boats anchored just offshore. The kind of place where you end up spending much longer than you planned.
The water was unbelievable. Even standing on the rocks you could see every detail beneath the surface. It honestly looked more like a swimming pool than the sea.
I spent a while just walking around the coastline before getting in. Every few steps I found another little corner that looked like it belonged on a postcard.
One thing I really liked about Menorca is that you don't have to do much. Find a nice beach, grab your towel, jump into the water and enjoy the day. Sometimes that's enough.
After a few hours here we carried on exploring the island because everyone had told us the same thing before the trip:
"Don't stay at just one beach."
Now I understand why.
Every cove had its own personality, and that was probably my favourite part of the whole island.
Have you ever been to Menorca?
After spending the morning at one of those incredible turquoise coves, we decided to keep exploring.
That quickly became our routine in Menorca.
Drive for a few minutes, park the car, walk a little... and suddenly another completely different beach would appear.
Some were surrounded by rocky cliffs where people jumped straight into the sea. Others were long sandy beaches with calm, shallow water that seemed to stretch forever.
One thing that surprised me was how different every place felt despite being so close to each other.
Sometimes we'd stop just because the coastline looked interesting. We'd climb over the rocks, enjoy the views for a while and then continue searching for the next beach.
I think that's what I enjoyed most about the island.
Not ticking famous places off a list.
Just driving without much of a plan and letting Menorca surprise us.
Looking back, those spontaneous stops are some of my favourite memories from the trip.
Before travelling to Menorca, everyone told me the same thing.
"You have to visit the beaches."
And they were right.
But after a few days, I realised the island had much more to offer than just turquoise water.
Driving from one beach to another, the scenery kept changing. One moment we were surrounded by rocky coves overlooking the sea, and twenty minutes later we were crossing quiet countryside with golden fields and hay bales scattered everywhere.
It felt like two completely different places sharing the same island.
One of my favourite parts of the trip was simply stopping the car whenever something caught our attention.
A viewpoint.
An empty field.
A quiet road.
There was no rush to get anywhere.
Then, on one of those random stops, we spotted something I definitely wasn't expecting...
A tortoise slowly making its way across the grass.
It wasn't exactly a spectacular wildlife encounter, but somehow it became one of those little moments you remember long after the holiday is over.
Sometimes it's not the famous places that stay with you.
It's the unexpected ones.
Looking back, I think that's what I liked most about Menorca.
Not just the beaches everyone talks about...
...but everything in between.
One thing nobody really tells you before visiting Menorca is that reaching some of the best coves isn't always easy.
You park the car, grab your backpack... and then the walk begins.
Sometimes it's only ten minutes.
Sometimes a little longer.
Narrow dirt paths surrounded by bushes, rocky sections where you have to watch every step, and every now and then a gap between the trees that lets you catch your first glimpse of the sea.
That first view always makes the walk worth it.
I actually enjoyed those trails as much as the beaches themselves.
They make you feel like you're discovering the place instead of simply arriving.
Along the way we barely met anyone. Just the sound of insects, the wind and, at one point, a sign that looked like it had collected half the stickers in Europe.
It made me laugh because it looked completely out of place in the middle of nature.
A few minutes later the path opened up, the cliffs appeared, and we knew we were getting close.
That's one of the things I'll remember most about Menorca.
Not only the beaches...
...but everything you have to experience before you reach them.
