Greetings friends who love clouds. Among the great variety of existing cloud types, one of the most striking is the "altocumulus" type, whose name derives from its appearance in the form of patches or cumulus clouds that extend horizontally covering all or part of the sky in the middle levels of the troposphere (altitudes between 2 and 6 km).

These cloud formations that give the sky a "cobblestone" appearance are often a harbinger of coming rains and the approach of a frontal system, so the saying goes "cobblestone sky, wet ground". Here I share with you some pictures I took of this type of clouds a few days ago, when a cold front was approaching the Cuban capital. I hope you like them. Greetings.

Saludos amigos amantes de las nubes. Entre la gran variedad de tipos de nubes existentes una de las más llamativas es la de tipo "altocúmulos", cuyo nombre deriva de sus aspecto en forma de parches o cúmulos de nubes que se extienden en forma horizontal cubriendo total o parcialmente el cielo en los niveles medios de la troposfera (altitudes de entre 2 y 6 km).

Estas formaciones nubosas que dan al cielo una apariencia "empedrada" suelen ser en muchas ocasiones presagio de lluvias venideras y de acercamiento de algún sistema frontal, por lo que dice el refrán "cielo empedrado, suelo mojado". Aquí les comparto algunas fotografías que tomé de este tipo de nubes hace pocos días, cuando se acercaba un frente frío a la capital cubana. Espero sea de su agrado. Saludos.
