"The Song "Crows Cry" is a "Sound Picture" it is my first attempt at creating a musical / sound image or a glimpse into a moment in time. The particular piece deals with the concept of abuse and control, not from the stereotypical male, but from a woman, in this case, a Mother. Society has not enjoyed looking at women who abuse, in fact, more often than not abuse received from the hands of a woman is far harder for society to believe because a female is thought to be naturally nurturing. More and more we see in the headlines this is not the case. "Crows Cry" is a dark and disturbing look at abuse in three movements, sexual, verbal and physical. I hope through the creation of this song it will bring awareness to this devastating social situation and bring help to any child as well as adult survivors.
