It is good to hear that it was well attended by many who went to Bangkok and that there were plenty of newbies. Bangkok was actually the one hivefest I wished I'd been well enough to attend, as I love Thailand in general, the madness and mayhem of the land of smiles.

Also, Liketu is a site I used a fair bit recently, and I understand what they're trying to do and why. I think that if they could pull even 10% of the Instagram crowd with an incentive to power up they could really boost hive.

Splinterlands were also absent, a major disappointment in my eyes.

I met aggroed for 10 seconds in Krakow, when I tried to talk to him and crimsonclad, he looked at me like the shit on his shoe, and then completely ignored me. I wasn't interrupting them, I was just trying to be friendly and join in a conversation they were having about the salt mines being like something out of lord of the rings. A subject I know plenty about, having read the trilogy more times than I'd feel comfortable admitting.

Anyway, I take people as I find them and I found him to be an arrogant asshole, also splinterlands seems to think it is beyond any one blockchain, yet they rely on several to use as payment gateways etc. But as I said in a recent post:

Billions of people read a book/week, and that isn't going to change.

If we're going to talk about niche content then look no further than at the highest earning posts and you'll soon stumble across a whole pile of Splinterlands content. Content about Splinterlands is one massive echo chamber, it's as niche as niche can be. No one cares about it other than Splinterlands players 😂

Like it or not, if you want more mainstream people coming to hive, there needs to be more content in trending that they'd understand and enjoy for them to even consider signing up or investing to power up.

My opinion about SPL kinda feeds into why it doesn't surprise me that they missed turning up to HF. Even though there are most likely people involved in the running/development of splinterlands that live in Europe, and could have attended, no one bothered because they're doing very well using Hive as an on & off ramp for their own business without bringing much to the table other than the game, which I've pointed out is a niche thing, comparatively, on a global scale, as far as the massive 100 billion strong 'mainstream' market is concerned. D'you reckon anyone watches Mr SPL Fat Cat's videos about opening 200 packs of cards on Youtube?

I personally find the whole idea of 'content wars' (short form vs long form, or blockchain games vs blogging) absolutely demented. These types of toxic hive politics debates have driven away more talent on here than anyone realises, that and shifts in rewards obviously. But these types of arguments about content focus etc are simply people trying to create pointless debate, either self-aggrandising, or distracting from the real issues around why hive has lost so many good content creators, and what might be done about it. I'll tell you what won't bring the wide range of diverse use cases that hive has the potential to fulfil, and that's petty tribalism and one-ups-manship that I've seen on here for years. Lol, this is an inflationary blockchain, there is more than enough space for a myriad of content types, blockchain games and other use cases, like reddit style forums etc. Tbh, I thought that was what the whole idea of RC rental markets might be about, but only if people who are already on here don't change up the dynamic. If we're web 3.0 then why are so many people perpetuating web 2.0 business practices, like using the blockchain to launch and fund their projects, while slyly making those projects as centralised as possible. To me it makes no sense, it's plain to see and it makes a farce of web 3.0 actually being a true evolution, a new iteration of decentralised internet (which is what it seems to being sold as) 🤣

Anyway... after that shocking bit of SPL bashing and cynical analysis... how about that local sports team?
